prahlAda firmly declared “nArAyaNa is in the pillar”. His father hiraNya got extremely angry and split open the pillar only to find the extraordinary form – a man-lion – coming out of it. narasimha killed him by splitting open his body with His sharp nails. He resides in singavEzhkunram where lions subdue the elephants, bring their tusks to offer at the feet of man-lion (narasimha).

Lord narasimha rolled His tongue inside His wide mouth out of anger at hiraNya who tortured all creatures, even his own son, prahlAda. BagavAn never forgives those who wrong His Baktas. He split open the asura’s chest with His sharp nails and killed him. He resides in singavEzh kunram that abounds in forests where wild animals live freely roaming about. There are hunters living in the forests not only hunt animals but also waylay the travelers and rob them of their possessions. They hunt in-groups some of them carrying bows and arrows and some parai. They beat the instrument and shout victorious cries.

Lord narasimha moorti split open the chest of hiraNya, the father of prahlAda, with His sharp nails. He has large cave-like mouth and sharp sword-like teeth. He resides in singavEzh kunram where there is nothing except tired animals, broken hillocks and burnt bamboo trees.

The divya dESa of Lord narasimha – who killed hiraNya with no other weapon than His own sharp nails – is singavEzh kunram where there are wild ferocious dogs, terrible vultures and hot sun as well as strong wind. This is an awful place where only dEvas can go, not ordinary folks.

Lord narasimha came to kill - hiraNya who had inflicted various kinds of sufferings on his son prahlAda – with tightened lips and sword-like teeth. He killed him with His sharp nails. He resides in the place called singavEzh kunram which is as difficult to approach as narasimha Himself. There is always terrible heat and whirlwind bringing hot balls of fire blowing in all directions. Oh! it is indeed a difficult place to go.

Lord narasimha had a fearful look – a big gaping cave-like mouth and awful sword-like teeth. Even the dEvas feared this roopa and ran helter-skelter and stumbled several times. He resides in singavEzh kunram, a place equally terrible with tigers stalking behind the bamboo bushes coming out in search of elephants following their footprints.

Lord narasingaperumAn’s rage knew no bounds. It grew every minute till it reaches the sky and burnt the lOkas terrorizing all living beings. In singavEzh kunram too the heat is so intense as to burn even the stones. It is a place difficult to approach because of the terrible cruel hunters who always roam with bows and arrows in the forests.

brahma and Siva praise Lord narasimha continuously that their tongues become and thick and scarred. Even then they don’t find the end of it. Lord narasimha resides in the divya dESa, singavEzh kunram, where vAhai trees are full of fruits that make sound (like thunder) and the bamboo that grows sky high rub with each other causing fire making the sky look red. Thus the scene is very fearful.

Oh! Mind! you are really good. You listen to what I say. Let us worship singaperumAn at singavEzh kunram. He is our swAmi and is with periya pirATTi. The divya dESa singavEzh kunram has abundant nelli trees whose roots enter the rocks and break them. The palm leaves make harsh sounds by rubbing with each other; the crickets make shrill noise continuously adding to the horrid look of the eerie place.

tirumangai AzhwAr, the chief of mangai city, has sung these pASuras on the Lord narasimha moorti residing in singavEzh kunram. It is a divya dESa where lions offer tusks of elephants killed by them at the feet of the Lord. Those who read and meditate on the meaning of the pASuras will not suffer from pApas. They will ever be happy.
