This pirudi is a divya dESa where Sree rAma resides after killing the mighty vAli. It is in the himalayas which abound in fragrant trees; where peacocks dance; where rain-clouds hang on the top of the trees in the mountain; where wide streams flow with plenty of water. AzhwAr asks his mind to go and reach this divya dESa – this is repeated in all the pASuras.

AzhwAr says - “Oh! My mind! Go to pirudi where angry Mountain-like elephants wander in fear of sharp-toothed lions which come out of their caves to wander in the thick forests. samudra rAja was (like these elephants) angry but was subdued by vAnara sEna who built a bridge with big boulders (like lions that subdued the elephants). Sree rAma who crushed lankApuri to pieces resides in pirudi.

In narasimhAvatAra He split open the broad chest of the asura, hiraNya with His shining sharp nails as the weapon terrorizing all the worlds. The dEvAs, brahma and others, fell at His feet with their brilliant gem-studded crowns emitting fire-like brilliance. In pirudi the wild boars (like varAha moorti) lift the huge gem-rocks with their shining white tusks and dislodge the gems that are carried away by the streams falling at His feet.

In pirudi the huge elephants cut off the shoots of bamboo, dip them in honey and feed their young elephants to eat. BagavAn, who lies in tirupAr kaDal with periya pirATTi to enable the dEvas to come to meet, resides in this divya dESa. He gives whatever the Baktas wish (like those wild elephants) with great love for them.

Like trivikrama the mAdavi creepers grow up to the sky and entwine them as if they wrestle with them. Such forests abound in tirupirudi where BagavAn who lies on tirupArkaDal on thousand hooded tiruanandAzhwAn resides here. He is worshiped by brahma and others with their crowned heads falling on His tiruvaDi.

In pirudi the vEngai trees grow sky-high with the pepper creepers twining round them. On the hillocks the war-mongering tigers wander. Here resides BagavAn who is worshiped by dEvas who come to earth to take bath in the lakes in the Himalayas. They get the flowers from the lakes – eight kinds of them worthy for pooja – to offer them at the feet of Him.

In tirupirudi the aSOka trees bloom with red flowers rich in pollen grains. The bees come to sit on them to drink honey suddenly fly away fearing it to be fire. Here resides emberumAn who removes the duhKa of samsAra and pApas of the jEvas when they chant His infinite names. The Pala of chanting is they get vivEka and consider Him alone as rakShaka and sarvESwara.

tirumangai AzhwAr has sung these pASuras on tirupirudi emberumAn. Here the huge dark clouds laden with water stay in one place looking like huge elephants and making thunderous sounds. The pythons that are always hungry mistakes them as elephants smacking their lips ready to eat them. Those who read and sing these pASuras will not be affected by pApas.
