Sree rAma went to the forest which is terrible because of animals like elephants, deers and horses roaming about every where. He came out victorious in all the wars with rAkShasas with bow and arrow alone as His weapon. He built a bridge across the roaring sea to cross to lankApuri which is protected by sea water and forts on all sides. He killed rAvaNa and felt the purpose of His avatAra is fulfilled by killing the enemies of His Baktas. He resides in tirusALagrAma.

Sree rAma killed the wild angry elephants, the powerful horses, broken the noisy chariots, killed the foot soldiers – all at one time and completely destroyed the lankApuri with His bow and arrows. He resides in sALagrAma that is full of beautiful lakes where scented flowers bloom in all seasons. dEvas come to this divya dESa attracted by its beauty and the BagavAn who resides forever there.

BagavAn is the antaryAmi of - seas, mountains, kAla, all objects in the world, eight directions, the luminaries like sun, moon etc., and night etc. He holds chakrAyudha which is used in subjugating the enemies. He is dEvAdi dEva because He is always victorious. He is good to those who seek Him and also to those who don’t seek Him. Those who seek Him reach through different means; to those who don’t seek He Himself goes to conquer them to His side.

BagavAn resides in divya dESas called tiruooraham, tirukuDandai, tiruppErai and tirusALagrAma. He is the one who took Sree rAma avatAra to crush the army of rAvaNa. He is the puruSOttama having thousand names. He resides in tiruppErai where the perennial kAvEri flows.

BagavAn in Sree rAma avatAra cut off the nose and ears of SoorpaNaka who voluntarily came to Him attracted by His handsome looks. In fact it was lakShmaNa who did the act but all the AzhwArs sing as if it is rAma’s act since lakShmaNa always acted in accordance with rAma’s thought alone. SoorpaNaka opened her cave-like mouth and shouted in pain. BagavAn always holds Ayudhas in His hands to protect His Baktas at any time like He protected the cattle from the onslaught of rain by holding the mountain like an umbrella.

emberumAn simultaneously drank pootana’s milk, her life, curd, butter. He begged three feet of land from mahAbali for the sake of indra and measured all the worlds at the same time. He resides in sALagrAma.

BagavAn is the antaryAmi for the sun, the moon and the panchaBootas – AkASa, vAyu, agni, water and earth. Mountains and the worlds mentioned represent the pruthvi tatva. He is the one who took and extraordinary form of narasimha to kill hiraNya in order to protect His Bakta prahlAda. He has an auspicious divine form that is natural form. He resides in sALagrAma as arcAmoorti.

paramaSiva suffering from the curse pronounced by his father brahma roamed about all the worlds with the kapAla stuck to his hand. No one could cure him of this curse. At last he came to nArAyaNa and begged Him to remove this curse. BagavAn poured amruta from His tirumArbu. That very moment the skull left his hand making Siva paramaSiva again.

BAgavatas who are intent on kainkarya, the nityasuris, the brAhmaNas wearing yajnOpaveeta (sacred thread) – all of them come to sALagrAma and say “BagavAn! Please bless us”. In this divya dESa there are fresh green forests full of flowering trees where bees come and fertile lands where fish jump on to the lotus buds causing them to bloom.

ArAr ulahattu arivuDaiyAr amarar nannATTu arasALa

Those who are interested in going to paramapada – those are the people who discriminate between Sareera and Atma, Atma and paramAtma, nitya and anitya etc – should chant the thousand names of BagavAn. Or they can read these pASuras of tirumangai AzhwAr - which are sung about emberumAn residing in sALagrAma – properly or improperly to reach the same paramapada.
